The line-up created by Trützschler and Balkan Textile Machinery can be used to make both rotor and ring spun yarns using recycled materials, completing an existing product line for textile recycling.

Textile waste can be fed into Balkan Textile Machinery’s equipment to be cut, mixed and torn ready to be pressed into bales of secondary fibres. These fibres can then be fed into Trützschler machines to create yarns using the recycled material.

Trützschler’s director of sales and marketing Markus Wurster says: “We are now able to provide a complete line-up of technologically leading machinery which has been specifically developed for rotor and ring yarns from recycled materials.”

Wurster says the development means that companies will benefit from reduced complexity when planning and executing a mill project as a result. He explains: “The combined processes from Trützschler and Balkan are perfectly fine-tuned, reliable and reproducible. And of course customers have access to Trützschler’s premium service.”

Balkan Textile Machinery’s owner Osman Balkan adds: “I am very happy that we can join forces with such a strong international player like Trützschler. Together we can make a significant contribution to dealing with textile waste globally.”

The news comes shortly after the UK Fashion and Textiles Association announced a £4m ($5.06m) project to develop and pilot an automated sorting and pre-processing plant for waste textiles and a new pilot study conducted in Norway used AI to identify the source of apparel waste.
