Thread maker A&E unveils new certified sustainable cotton threads

A&E says its new products meet the material health requirements of the multi-attribute C2C Certified Product Standard and bolster what it describes as an already "impressive sustainable thread line," supporting increased sustainability and circularity within the textile industry.

The Anecot Plus SPC and Chroma SPC long staple cotton thread products are created with C2C compliant dyes and chemicals, which A&E explains, provide additional eco-friendly choices to brands and retail partners seeking certified, sustainable threads to support their environmental goals.

C2C Certified is a globally-recognised measure of safer, more sustainable products made for a circular economy. Products under C2C are rated based on their overall product safety, responsibility, and ability to be reused once their useful life has ended.

A&E highlights that achieving Gold level C2C Certified status demonstrates the company's dedication to minimising its ecological footprint with continuous efforts to be an environmentally-conscious contributor to a regenerative economy.

A&E president Chris Alt says: "From fully recycled options, as in our ECO100 thread line, to our 100% biodegradable and organic products, we remain committed to creating responsible sewing threads. We are pleased to continue to offer sustainable sewing thread solutions to our customers. We are focused on meeting the current and future demands of our customers with new innovations, while doing right by the environment and the communities in which we operate."

Chief sustainability officer at Elevate Textiles Jimmy Summers believes the C2C programme certifies products designed for a circular economy and challenges us to re-think the way we make them.

Summers adds: "The Material Health Certificate offers a solution to growing industry and consumer interest in knowing more about the chemicals used in products across their supply chains and avoiding chemicals of concern. This helps us continue on our path towards even safer product chemistries and circularity."

A&E with Elevate Textiles has held material health certifications from C2C since 2021.

In 2019 A&E opened its 28th global manufacturing facility in south Vietnam’s Dong Nai Province on the Nhon Trach Industrial Park 6 with Alt emphasising the Southeast Asian country's importance for the textile and apparel sewn industry.

Traditional AI is here to stay in the retail and apparel space

Initially, retailers used AI for basic tasks, including inventory management and demand forecasting. However, its usage has now become more prevalent in other aspects such as personalized marketing, customer service, pricing optimization, and supply chain management. With the rise of ecommerce and the increasing importance of data-driven decision-making, AI adoption in retail and apparel has accelerated. The industry now relies on AI to enhance the shopping experience, optimize business operations, and gain an overall competitive edge.
