Textile innovation and solutions company NTX Group has partnered with e-commerce fashion giant Shein to bring artificial intelligence (AI) to fast fashion production and fulfilment.

The partnership would allow Shein to leverage NTX's AI technology for design insights, creative output, product drawings, and streamlined manufacturing processes in its trend of “quick production” and “quick-to-market apparel.”

By applying AI, NTX can enable Shein to launch new fashion products in just seven days with delivery fulfilment in only five days after that - drastically quicker than traditional processes.

NTX has incorporated the use of AI across the full fashion lifecycle from design to planning to production. A key part of the group's solution is its Cooltrans denim manufacturing technology. Cooltrans uses AI-powered cold transfer printing to produce ready-to-sew fabric in days versus months compared to traditional textile manufacturing methods.

The eco-friendly waterless process also reduces the environmental footprint, making them a go-to vendor for major sports and denim brands looking to accelerate operations.

“AI and fashion are logical partners,” said Charles Duan, managing partner of NTX Group. “We are thrilled to contribute our AI expertise to major brands and emerging fashion companies that want to follow trends and sell their products on the Shein platform.”

NTX sees Shein as the perfect fast fashion e-commerce company. The company already reaches over 53m users across 150+ countries and saw its shopping app downloaded 261.9m times in 2023 alone. With a massive TikTok presence exceeding 84bn hashtag views, SHEIN is one of the fastest-growing online fashion retailers, especially in the US market.

In 2023, NTX showcased its Cooltrans waterless colouration technology that colourised nearly any fabric material without heat, at the International Textile Machinery Association (ITMA), which at the time suggested the European textile industry was well positioned to lead the global sector towards a more sustainable future.
