SanMar Corporation’s appointment of Draughn, who will assume the role of vice president of sourcing and product development on 16 October, marks a new chapter in the company’s leadership of its global and domestic supply network.

With over 30 years of experience in managing end-to-end global operations, Draughn will join SanMar’s executive team with a seasoned logistics perspective.

Draughn has honed his skills in leading teams responsible for supply chain management, operations, development, manufacturing, compliance, and quality.

His wealth of knowledge has been shaped through navigating the industry's dynamic evolution, from protectionism to globalisation, in both private and public entities.

Commenting on the appointment, chief product officer at SanMar, Patrick Noonan said: “Dean brings a tremendous understanding of global supply chains as an apparel manufacturer in the US, Honduras and Asia, as well as a buyer and sourcing executive.”

Draughn's industry influence extends to his role as a member of the Cotton Board, an essential arm of the Cotton Research and Promotion Programmes, serving as a key liaison to the US Department of Agriculture.

His previous appointments include serving as a key member of the US Department of Commerce and the Office of the US Trade Representatives International Trade Advisory Committee for Textiles and Apparel.

Draughn expressed his commitment to advancing SanMar's legacy and said: “My career has been about driving value across organisations and showing up for my team every single day.

“I’ve been quickly impressed with our team’s dedication and proven record of success. I’m excited to help continue the tradition of making exceptional products that drive positive change.”

In October, SanMar was one of many brands that sent a joint letter to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ask for the minimum wage review mechanism to incorporate all stakeholders’ views and reflect the country’s economic realities.
