Sae-A Trading has cut accumulatively 10,700 tons of carbon emissions since 2022 and achieved an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across three Indonesian factories compared to 2020. The company achieved this using a total of 2MW capacity of solar panels and acquiring the Renewable Energy Certificate.

Sae-A is also introducing innovative greenhouse gas reduction facilities in its subsidiaries overseas, with its Nicaragua and Indonesia factories already enhancing electricity self-sufficiency through solar power generation.

In January 2024, 0.25MW of solar panels started operating in Sae-A Trading’s factory in Vietnam, making continuous progress towards achieving its ultmate goal of net-zero by 2050.

Sae-A emphasised that several of its factories and subsidiaries have also earned the US eco-friendly building certification, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

The company now plans to establish a policy mandating renewable energy generation for all its new factories, alongside obtaining the LEED certification.

In addition to this, Sae-A shared it employs eco-friendly technologies in its production process. It said that Win Textile, a fabric manufacturer in Indonesia, operates a wastewater treatment plant to purify wastewater generated from fabric post-processing and recycles the sewage sludge (sediment produced during the sewage treatment process) into fuel.

The company claims it is actively expanding its use of eco-friendly materials by managing related certifications and supply chains. Sae-A claimed its goal is to be using 100% sustainable cotton and 50% recycled polyester by 2025.

Sae-A Trading also highlighted that it has a dedicated sustainability team and claims to be the first in the industry to establish an eco-friendly value chain, producing certified organic and recycled products.

The company also recently committed to the Science Based Targets initiative with the aim of reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 + Scope 2) by 42% by 2030 compared to 2022.

Last year, Sae-A also celebrated what it called a "decade of transformative impact" with another set of graduates from its school in Haiti.
