Pangaia, The North Face spearhead UK circular resale movement project

Technology platform for branded resale, Archive has joined forces with Advanced Clothing Solutions (ACS), a UK circular and sustainable fashion fulfilment hub to offer cleaning, repair, and second-hand item fulfilment on a branded resale market with global brands The North Face and Pangaia already leveraging this partnership.

Archive's proprietary resale software will precisely manage apparel, footwear, outdoor, and luxury brands’ product data which includes identifying, conditioning, photographing, pricing, cleaning, repairing (if necessary), listing for sale, and fulfilling items on a branded resale marketplace.

Items deemed unfit for resale are thoughtfully directed towards recycling or donation. Archive's technology is customised for each brand, ensuring healthy profit margins and strict adherence to brand guidelines.

The collaborators announced that the first brands in the UK to leverage this partnership include The North Face and Pangaia.

Andrew Rough, CEO of ACS said: “I am pleased to announce our relationship with Archive which enables The North Face and Pangaia to own their own resale channels in the UK and marks a pivotal moment in our resale journey.

“Together with the team at Archive, we anticipate that we will onboard other fashion brands who wish to enter the pre-loved resale market in the UK which is growing quickly.“

Pangaia partnered with Archive in September to produce its resale programme, ReWear, along with tech company EON, marking the “first” peer-to-peer resale marketplace leveraging digital IDs. ReWear is the initial step towards Pangaia's ambitious goal of creating a truly circular ecosystem for their apparel.

In the programme's expansion, brand-owned inventory is sent to ACS for renewal and resale on their branded recommerce platform, powered by Archive. Similarly, ACS and Archive will process, clean, repair, and resell inventory from The North Face to launch their Renewed circularity program in the UK.

ACS, with its comprehensive fulfilment service operating from a specialised 200,000 sq. ft fashion hub, is unwavering in its commitment to supporting the shift in the fashion industry towards circular solutions. Implementing sustainable cleaning and repair solutions, ACS claims to prolong the lifespan of fashion items, aligning with the evolving ethos of environmentally conscious consumers.

“We are thrilled to partner with ACS to enable brands to easily adopt and scale circular business models in the UK,” said Emily Gittins, CEO and co-founder of Archive. “They are true leaders and innovators with a passion for transforming the fashion industry, and we look forward to deepening our partnership over time.”

Material science brand, Pangaia partnered with Dutch technology company Avantium in November to use its 100% plant-based and recyclable material in a new apparel collection.
