NIKE ranks fourth on resale sites Depop and second on eBay with over 219,000 and 893,000 items, respectively.
Nike is followed by Ralph Lauren, Levi’s and Zara as the most listed clothing brands on resale sites.
Ralph Lauren carries 1.03m listings most of which are on eBay (929,000 items listed). It has more clothing listed on eBay than any other brand.
Levi’s takes third place with over 646,000 listings found across both marketplaces. It is far more popular on eBay than Depop, with over 572,000 listings compared to 74,000.
Zara ranks fourth, with over 592,000 items listed. It is the most popular brand for Gen Z, with over 289,000 items listed on Depop. The Inditex-owned brand ranks eighth most-listed on eBay with over 302,000 products.
Lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret takes fifth place with over 452,000 listings. Its 16,700 products on Depop reveal a declining popularity among younger shoppers, compared to the 435,000 on eBay.
Adidas, J. Crew, Topshop, H&M, and Free People rank sixth through tenth.
Josh Neuman, founder of T-shirt brand Chummy Tees commented on the findings: “Our research reveals the most popular brands to sell online, with fascinating differences in popularity between eBay and Depop. While Nike ranked highest, Zara is surprisingly the most-listed on Depop, which is popular among Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
"The data also reveals that brown, beige, and multicolored clothing is easiest for sellers to shift. These findings offer insight into the most popular items to sell online in 2024 when side hustles are becoming increasingly popular in the face of spiraling living costs.”
