The New Balance Londonderry factory is projected to create more than 150 jobs, with production set to commence in 2025.

“The Granite State is known for its strong economy and skilled workforce, and we look forward to New Balance Londonderry being an integral part of our growing domestic factory base,” said Joe Preston, New Balance president & CEO.  “This new factory will help us meet our significant US and global consumer demand and drive future business opportunities that showcase our longstanding pride in American craftsmanship and innovation.”

This expansion aligns with New Balance's focus on American craftsmanship, innovation, and lean manufacturing processes, establishing a demand-driven and responsive Made in the US (Made US) supply network.

New Balance's Made footwear, with a domestic value of 70% or more, constitutes a limited portion of its US sales. The company claims to be the only major athletic shoe manufacturer maintaining factories in the US.

The company is actively working to innovate and expand its domestic supplier network for Made US footwear while exploring automation and robotics opportunities to enhance safety, ergonomics, and productivity.

Dave Wheeler, New Balance’s chief operating officer, highlighted the strategic significance of the move, stating: “Our relentless focus on manufacturing innovation and growing our US footwear manufacturing footprint are two of the most important strategic initiatives we've sustained at New Balance and reflects the core of our culture.”

New Balance's expansion and commitment to American manufacturing hailed by state officials

Congressman Chris Pappas welcomed the construction as a milestone for New Balance's legacy, emphasising its contribution to economic growth and job creation.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen echoed Pappas and touched on the economic impact of the facility, noting: "This new facility will create good jobs in the community, boost the local economy and strengthen New Hampshire’s reputation as a first-rate business destination."

Senator Maggie Hassan added, "Our state’s entrepreneurial spirit has always made New Hampshire a great place to open or expand a business, and I look forward to seeing how New Balance’s expansion will help grow our economy."

The design, engineering, and construction of the NB Londonderry expansion are being managed by Consigli Construction.

New Balance said it currently employs over 1,500 manufacturing associates across three Maine factories in Norridgewock, Norway, and Skowhegan and two Massachusetts factories in Lawrence and Methuen.

In June, New Balance expanded its Maine footwear factory following a $65m investment and said it was committing to domestic manufacturing.
