Jeanologia’s "Washed by the Atmosphere" ecosystem claims to offer authentic vintage aesthetics with a significantly reduced environmental impact by eliminating traditional polluting processes, such as potassium permanganate, pumice, and other harmful substances, along with effluent discharges from the textile finishing industry.

One of the core elements of the concept is the deployment of an eco-washing solution rooted in G2 ozone technology. The textile technology company believes this solution has the potential to reduce water usage by 96%, eliminate the production of toxic by-products, and cut down energy consumption by up to 25%.

The G2 ozone technology patented INDRA system allows production facilities to significantly reduce their water and chemical usage, achieving a natural wear tone more quickly, sustainably, and cost-effectively.

The Atmos process operates under atmospheric conditions, employing ozone instead of water and chemicals. This approach enables dry-finishing jeans, resulting in denim garments with an authentic vintage appearance characterised by a contrast between light and dark areas, all achieved without the use of pumice stones or potassium permanganate.

The Atmos finishing process also extends beyond denim and is applicable to colour treatments, such as those on sweatshirts and T-shirts.

Carmen Silla, marketing director at Jeanologia highlighted the importance of the company’s atmospheric washing process: “We’re fostering a new era for the textile industry in which air is the protagonist, thus replacing the traditional use of water, which enables authentic vintage looks while guaranteeing zero pollution.”

The shift in focus from water to air is a central principle of Jeanologia as the company believes air digitalisation and automation are the keys to a fully sustainable and efficient textile industry.

Jeanologia states that its presentation at Kingpins Amsterdam, which is scheduled for 18-19 October, will showcase how its innovative technologies and processes can deliver authentic products through what it calls a more productive, competitive, and completely sustainable operational model, achieved primarily through automation and digitisation.

Zara-owner Inditex teamed up with Jeanologia in June, to develop an industrial air system, designed to extract microfibres during the initial process of garment fabrication without compromising on quality.

In the same month, Jeanologia partnered with GoBlue to launch the Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) programme, to enhance transparency and credibility within the fashion industry.
