India's Minister of Textile, Higher Education and Technical Education, Parliamentary Affairs, State Border Defence Shri Chandrakant Patil told Gartex Texprocess India attendees it is a “much-needed” opportunity for domestic manufacturers to “identify the right technologies, enhance their business and aid the growth and promotion of the Indian garment and textile manufacturing value chain”.

The three-day event supported by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra and Denim Manufacturing Association (DMA) features more than 120 exhibitors showcasing innovations across over 32 key product categories from the world of textiles.

Gartex Texprocess India claimed the event will once again prove to be a ‘one-stop’ platform for companies to widen their business network and exchange knowledge and expertise.

Patil said he appreciated the organiser’s effort in bringing ‘Fabric to Finish solutions’ onto a single platform and said: “Being held in two of the country’s prime business hubs, the exhibition ensures that it caters to the business demands of the textile clusters situated across the length and breadth of the country.”

The edition has also welcomed over 30 new exhibitors to witness the co-located Denim Show, Fabrics and Trims Show and an exclusive zone on Screen Print India-Textile to demonstrate the latest trends and innovations in the industry.

The exhibition ground is said to be packed with displays highlighting new-age machinery, advanced technologies and solutions, trending fabrics and raw materials, along with the latest technology in cutting plotters, digital textile printers, heat transfer machines, denim laser and finishing machines, 3D transfer labels, printed tapes and elastics, sequins chain and loose for hand embroidery, garment accessories and a large variety of fashion fabrics.

Brands from India like Balaji Sewing Machines, Beharji Enterprises, BrillBrains Technolabs, Codeverse Technologies, Ginni International, Lenzing Fibres India, LNJ Denims, Mexum Texink and many more are also displaying their innovations.

Gartex Texprocess India said it has also received international participation from brands such as Jack, Siruba, Brother, Pegasus, Yumei and Bruce.

Patil also encouraged aattendees to promote the Government of India’s “Vocal for Local” campaign which is now moving towards “Vocal for Global’’. “Vocal for Local is the real brand ambassador of the Make in India movement by emphasising the promotion of local brands, manufacturing and supply chain,” he said.

According to the year-end review 2023 by the Ministry of Textiles last year the government took key initiatives like launching PM MITRA Parks under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme and funding 126 research proposals under the National Technical Textile Mission (NTTM) for speciality fibre and technical textiles to boost the sector’s growth.

Industry experts discuss India’s textile and garment growth trajectory

The Denim Manufacturers Association president Sharad Jaipuria said while delivering his keynote address: “The Denim Manufacturer Association of India (DMA) is committed to advancing the denim industry in the country. This event showcases the versatility of denim as a preferred fabric for various applications and provides an inclusive platform for all supply chain players to collaborate, network, and foster a fair and equitable environment.”

Jaipura described the exponential growth of the denim industry as presenting “tremendous opportunities” for all participants in the supply chain. Recognising the importance of sustainable practices, the industry is actively promoting circularity and eco-friendliness, he explained.

MEX Exhibitions Pvt Ltd director Gaurav Juneja added: “It’s exciting to see the evolution in the display of products at our event which has moved from the traditional to all new-age, smart and innovative products. Sector-friendly government schemes, new and emerging technologies, a widening scope of exports, and contributions from MSMEs and small businesses are the major growth drivers of the Indian textile industry.”

Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd executive director and board member Raj Manek agreed and added: “The sector is witnessing robust growth. Along with the growing support from the government, and the rapid adoption of automation, technologies, and innovative machinery, the textile industry is in its transformative phase.

“During this phase, an event like Gartex Texprocess India plays a pivotal role in bringing the world’s leading players under one roof and gives them opportunities to understand current and future trends.”

In September the New Delhi edition of the Gartex Texprocess India trade fair covered all aspects of the garment and textile industry including advanced innovations, business activities, seminars and featured a product showcase that highlighted the sector’s growth.
