Denim Expert explained its new ETP will align with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Wastewater Guidelines Version 2.0 as part of its dedication to offering the highest water quality from 100% water reuse.
The company described the new Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) as a "key milestone" in its journey towards sustainability. It added that it reinforces its status as a "leader" in environmental stewardship and it is also focused on having full reliance on solar energy.
Denim Expert Ltd's managing director and CEO Mostafiz Uddin believes the establishment of this new biological ETP is a reflection of its unwavering commitment to practices that uphold the company's values and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.
Uddin said: "Denim Expert Ltd (DEL) is always committed to advancing sustainable manufacturing practices."
Denim Expert explained that it was one of the "first" factories to join the Partnership for Cleaner Textile (PaCT), and it is in the process of implementing the 3E programme. Plus, it was recognised on a global scale for its approach to sustainability and named a 'New Champion' by the World Economic Forum.
The company added that it has partnered with organisations like Cascale (formerly Sustainable Apparel Coalition or SAC), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Jeans Redesign programme.
Beyond its environmental initiatives, Denim Expert also champions corporate social responsibility by having a diverse workforce ranging from disabled individuals to those with a transgender identity as well as those that have survived human trafficking. The company also advocates for higher education for female employees and supports worker welfare associations, which is said to demonstrate its dedication to social inclusivity and welfare.
