Dr Torben Hansen will assume the role of CEO at Bonprix effective 1 April 2024 succeeding Dr Richard Gottwald who will leave the company on 31 May 2024.

Hansen gained extensive experience in the fashion sector during his tenure at Berlin-based fashion e-tailer, Zalando, where he played a pivotal role in the establishment and internationalisation of re-commerce activities.

After that, he served as the CEO and Sales leader at German online supermarket, Bringmeister, where he spearheaded a transformative phase of the food delivery service.

As managing director of Bringmeister GmbH, Bringmeister Fulfilment GmbH and Bringmeister Logistik GmbH, his strategic vision resulted in double-digit sales growth and a substantial reduction in variable costs.

A business information technology graduate, Hansen's professional journey also included a management and strategy consultancy at McKinsey & Company.

Dr Marcus Ackermann, group board member for multichannel distance selling and chairman of the advisory board of Bonprix commented: “Hansen’s professional career is impressive and characterised by outstanding achievements, entrepreneurial drive and strategic skills in various industries, not least in the fashion segment.

“This means that Hansen has exactly the skills and expertise that are needed to lead Bonprix into a sustainably successful future."

In acknowledging the departure of the outgoing CEO, Gottwald, Ackermann acknowledged his contributions to the company's growth during his tenure, recognising his role in shaping Bonprix to meet the challenges of the future.

The restructuring of the management team also includes key individuals such as Carolin Klar (product and sourcing), Dr. Kai Heck (finance and logistics), and Matthias Wlaka (IT/technology).

Additionally, Markus Fuchshofen, the previous managing director of e-commerce, sales in Germany, brand, and advertising, will be leaving Bonprix by mutual agreement, effective 31 January 2024, after nearly three decades of service and contributions, particularly in driving the digital transformation of the fashion brand internationally.

In April, Bonprix supported Fashion for Good's (FFG) rollout of the Dyestuff Library, a digital tool enabling partners to choose sustainable dyestuff based on competitive performance and environmental metrics for commercial use.
