Archroma’s Planet Conscious+ initiative, aimed at fostering innovation, transparency, and sustainability in the apparel and textile sectors, introduces six key dimensions, four of which were launched earlier this year.

Mark Garrett, Group CEO of Archroma, emphasised the importance of the Planet Conscious+ initiative in light of global challenges such as climate change and economic instability.

"We believe that the time is right for us to realign our vision to guide the next phase of our development. ‘Planet Conscious+’ encapsulates both our responsibility and our potential as a company that touches and colours people’s lives every day, all around the world," Garrett stated.

Each aspect of "Planet Conscious+" builds on Archroma’s existing expertise, offering brands and mills innovative solutions to help them navigate complex sustainability challenges.

Key dimensions of Planet Conscious+

  1. Super Sytems+: These end-to-end processing solutions offer measurable environmental benefits by delivering durable colours and effects with cleaner chemistries. This allows brands and mills to select the impact they want to achieve in line with their sustainability goals.
  2. Safe Edge+: As a roadmap for compliance and cleaner chemistries, this platform integrates Archroma’s Safe Edge initiative with Foundation+, a portfolio designed to minimise hazardous substances, reducing them by over 95% compared to industry standards.
  3. One Way+: Combining Archroma’s One Way Impact Calculator with its Sustainability Improvement Program (SIP), this tool helps brands and mills improve operational efficiency while saving resources such as water and energy.
  4. Colour Management+: This advanced solution improves colour design and development collaboration between brands and mills, reducing environmental impact through a wide range of sustainable colour options.

In addition to these four pillars, Archroma introduced two new dimensions: Innovation+ and Communication+.

  • Innovation+ focuses on accelerating the shift to a circular economy by developing cleaner chemistries and more durable effects through Archroma’s global research and development teams.
  • Communication+ enhances transparency across the supply chain by providing stakeholders with fact-based information, enabling brands to communicate their sustainability achievements with confidence.

Paul Cowell, vice president of innovation, marketing, brand engagement, and sustainability at Archroma, noted that this initiative aims to foster meaningful change at scale. Cowell explained: "The introduction of ‘Planet Conscious+’ deepens our commitment to innovation and partnership, and sharpens our focus on consumers and the environment," Cowell said.

With "Planet Conscious+," Archroma seeks to create a more sustainable future for the textile industry by driving innovation and providing tools to measure and communicate environmental impact. "Innovation must be accompanied by accountability and trust," added Cowell.
