In a move to advance the commercialisation of circular, decarbonised polyester materials, Hyosung TNC has partnered with Ambercycle, an innovator in textile-to-textile circular polyester.

The collaboration will see Hyosung TNC, leveraging its 58 years of expertise in advanced fibre manufacturing, become the first in South Korea to introduce Ambercycle's cycora regenerated polyester into brand supply chains.

“Our collaboration with Ambercycle is another important step we are taking to help our customers meet their sustainability goals and scale solutions that both present and future generations can enjoy,” said Chi Hyung Kim, CEO of Hyosung TNC. “We’re impressed with cycora for its quality but also for its potential to divert tons of textile waste from landfills and incinerators and reduce the extraction of raw materials used in the production of virgin polyester.”

Los Angeles-based Ambercycle's cycora polyester chips claim to meet the spinnability standards of virgin materials while outperforming other recycled options, according to testing by the textile research institute European Center for Innovative Textiles (CETI).

Ambercycle’s molecular regeneration technology will add to a growing portfolio of circular solutions manufactured by Hyosung TNC, the company behind regen nylon, made from discarded fishing nets in 2007 making it the first company to receive the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification for its recycled regen polyester.

Shay Sethi, CEO of Ambercycle commented: “The fashion industry is searching for accessible, high-quality circular solutions. This partnership is a testament to that demand and an important step to ramp up the production of cycora and make it easier for brands to source regenerated materials for their fashion lines.”

Sri-Lanka headquartered clothing maker MAS Holdings signed a three-year-long supply deal last week ( 6 June) with US-based Ambercycle for its recycled polyester material Cycora.
