Amazon's decision to align with the LABS Initiative reflects the company's dedication to elevating safety standards in manufacturing facilities and advancing responsible and sustainable business practices.

By leveraging the expertise and resources of the initiative, Amazon aims to strengthen its efforts of enhancing building and fire safety while promoting worker wellbeing.

“Realising safe, equitable, fair, and sustainable supply chains has been a longstanding priority for Amazon across all our businesses,” said Leigh Anne DeWine, director of social responsibility at Amazon. “Recognising our responsibility to uphold safe working environments, we are pleased to join the LABS Initiative. We remain committed to continually improving working conditions.”

Pramit Chanda the global director of textile and manufacturing at IDH and spokesperson for the LABS Initiative added: "As advocates for safe working environments and sustainability across the supply chain, we are delighted to welcome Amazon into the LABS Initiative. Together, we look forward to working collaboratively to ensure the wellbeing of workers and to contribute to responsible sourcing practices."

The manufacturing hubs supplying Amazon in Cambodia, India, Indonesia and Vietnam were regions that helped the LABS Initiative attain 500 factory commitments to safer workplaces in March.

In April, Amazon announced that it was investing more than €700m ($745m) in new robotics and AI-powered innovations for its European fulfilment centre (FC) network, creating new jobs and an enhanced retail experience for its customers.
