Accelerating Circularity, an organisation dedicated to advancing circular supply chains and business models for transforming used textiles into mainstream raw materials announced the launch of the "Reality Zone" workshop at the Textile Exchange conference in London.

The workshop, scheduled for 27 October, will provide attendees with insights into the diverse applications of mechanically recycled cotton, fostering an understanding of its potential and encouraging increased use. Additionally, a publicly accessible database will be unveiled during the event to support the dissemination of information on these products.

Karla Magruder, founder, and president of Accelerating Circularity said: “By adopting and incorporating higher volumes of recycled cotton into the production process, we can move toward more circular supply chains.

“Partnering with Bank & Vogue and Beyond Retro as they demonstrate a commitment to sustainable fashion and to building a closed-loop economy.”

In another joint effort with Bank & Vogue and Beyond Retro, Accelerating Circularity is set to host an event called "Circularity Live" an immersive experience that will allow participants to interact with and experience garments sourced from the circular economy.

These garments, made from mechanically recycled cotton within the ACP network, will be curated with the vintage styling of Beyond Retro. The event is scheduled for 26 October at 6:30 PM and will take place at the Beyond Retro store located in Coal Drops Yard, London.

Magruder added: “Our goal is to use these events to reinforce what can be done here and now with mechanically recycled cotton to make an impact to reduce textile waste going to landfills.”

In October, Accelerating Circularity created the Alliance of Textile Chemical Recycling (ACTR) working group to give the textile industry a common voice and facilitate accurate information on textile chemical recycling.

Accelerating Circularity unveiled a textile-to-textile circular recycling guide in June and it was designed to help stakeholders implement circular systems within the fashion supply chain.
