The overarching objective of IHKIB and WRAP’s project is to solidify business ties between Türkiye and the US, thereby fostering additional avenues for cooperation between the two nations and bolstering the global competitiveness of the Turkish apparel industry.
The collaboration formally signed on 8 March by Selcuk Mehmet Kaya chairman of the international relations and sustainability committee of IHKIB and president and CEO of WRAP, Avedis Seferian will see WRAP extend in-person and virtual training sessions, free of charge, to shepherd Turkish apparel companies through the certification process.
Suppliers bearing the WRAP certification exemplify a steadfast commitment to workers’ rights, occupational health and safety, environmental sustainability, and compliance with local laws.
This certification claims to alleviate audit fatigue for the over 3,500 WRAP-certified facilities worldwide and enhance their competitiveness in the global market, aligning with the expectations of leading brands and retailers.
Commenting on the collaboration Seferian said: “WRAP is committed to promoting responsible and ethical practices in the global textile and apparel industry. Partnering with organisations like IHKIB allows us to extend our reach and contribute to the success of Turkish exporters, reinforcing our shared values.”
The partnership seeks to facilitate and empower IHKIB members, who represent 80% of Türkiye’s apparel exports, in navigating new markets and staying abreast of sectoral developments.
