Offers are being invited for the Arcadia Group fashion brand, in addition to the intellectual property and branding of UK retailer Outfit, which will be auctioned off this week.
Arcadia Group Limited was owned by Tina Green, the wife of group chairman Sir Philip Green, and at its height had more than 2,500 UK outlets as well as department store concessions and a significant portfolio of franchises operating internationally.
UK online fast fashion retailer Boohoo Group acquired the Dorothy Perkins, Burton, and Wallis brands from Arcadia in a GBP25.2m (US$34.5m) deal in February.
In the same month, the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT brands were acquired by UK online fast-fashion retailer Asos for GBP330m. The Evans brand was sold to Australia’s City Chic Collective in December for GBP23m.
“The Arcadia name is instantly and internationally recognisable. Before it entered into administration in November last year, it had been a retail and fashion empire of unprecedented size and scope,” says Nat Baldwin, managing director of Hilco Streambank, who is co-ordinating the campaign.
“Its brands were household names across the UK and internationally and it is anticipated that the sale will generate a remarkable amount of interest from domestic and global enterprises.”

By GlobalDataThe deadline for offers for a range of intellectual property assets is 26 May 2021 at 4pm BST.
At the same time, Hilco Valuation Services is offering for sale on 25 and 26 May, via a two-day online auction, the London HQ IT assets and distribution centre equipment previously used by the Arcadia Group – all located in Milton Keynes.
Also on the block will be the intellectual property and branding of Outfit, a huge UK retailer owned by a subsidiary of Arcadia which became an out-of-town, one-stop shopping destination.
The sales have been instructed by Matthew David Smith, Daniel Francis Butters and Robert Scott Fishman, all of Deloitte, joint administrators of Arcadia Group Limited, who have asked Hilco to generate an international marketing campaign to find appropriate buyers.
The Arcadia Group employed more than 19,000 people worldwide prior to administration, and its presence was felt across the world, with more than 1,100 stores traded under sub-brands in 34 countries outside the UK. It also shipped to 107 countries through the Arcadia Group’s former brands’ transactional websites.
Outfit specialised in bringing the biggest high street fashion brands, including those in the Arcadia portfolio, under one roof as a leading consumer-focused retail destination experience. The assets of both opportunities include brand, trademarks, and domain names.
