The NIKE Ultrafly Trail shoe marks the first time Vibram’s technology has been integrated into Nike Trail footwear. It features a carbon Flyplate, positioned between the ZoomX foam and a fabric-wrapped midsole.
Meanwhile, the outsole of the shoe debuts Vibram’s Litebase technology which is said to offer trail runners a proprietary lightweight, agile outsole design with its award-winning Vibram Traction Lug technology and Vibram MegaGrip compound.
The duo explains the technology enhances the shoe’s responsiveness and provides runners with the grip they need to conquer challenging trails in a fast yet comfortable way.
Fabrizio Gamberini, the global chief brand officer and president of Vibram Corp, expressed his excitement about the partnership and said: “Together, we are expanding the trail running community by combining Vibram’s highly desired innovations with Nike’s world-class running footwear.
“The Nike Ultrafly Trail exemplifies our shared belief in the power of collaboration providing athletes with trail running technology that pushes the boundaries of innovation.”
The development of the Nike Ultrafly Trail involved close collaboration between Nike footwear designers and elite Nike Trail athletes.

By GlobalDataNike and Vibram explain that by leveraging the expertise of both companies, the design team was able to create a premium racing shoe tailored specifically for trails.
The duo add the aim was to address the unique needs of trail runners, focusing on the grip and traction required on rough terrains.
Tyler Green, a Nike Trail athlete, served as the primary inspiration for the innovative design. Green extensively tested the shoes during his training, covering over 1,000 miles.
Nike says his performance was evident as he achieved remarkable consecutive top-five finishes at the renowned 100-mile Western States Endurance Run while wearing the Nike Ultrafly Trail.
Sharing his experience with the shoe, Green said: “I’ve put the shoe to the test across rocky terrain, hard climbs, fast descents and tough workouts. It’s exciting to see my perspective and feedback directly inform a product that will help all runners chase their goals on the trails.”
The shoe will be available in limited quantities in Europe from 27 July, with a global release for all runners scheduled for late January.
