Omni-channel women’s fashion retailer New York & Company Inc is to change its name to RTW Retailwinds Inc next week, ahead of plans to expand its celebrity brands and enter the intimate apparel market.
The company says the name change will be effective from Monday (19 November), with its common stock to begin trading under the new name on the New York Stock Exchange the following day. In connection with the name change, the company’s ticker symbol for its shares of common stock will change to ‘RTW’.
The company’s portfolio includes New York & Company, Fashion to Figure, and branded merchandise including collaborations with actresses Eva Mendes, Gabrielle Union and Kate Hudson. The firm operated 428 retail and outlet locations, while also growing what it describes as a “substantial” e-commerce business.
“Our company has evolved into one of the largest speciality women’s omni-channel and digitally enabled retailers with a powerful multi-brand lifestyle platform poised for growth,” says CEO Greg Scott. “RTW reflects our vision to maximise the power of our platform to create destination celebrity and lifestyle brand assortments across categories and channels.
“We move forward strongly positioned to continue our expansion of NY&Co, expanding celebrity brands with the upcoming launch of Kate Hudson and entering intimate apparel – a core competency of our team.”
