Denim brand G-Star Raw has unveiled a collection of garments dyed using upcycled saw palmetto leaf leftovers and upcycled beetroot waste.
Its second collaboration with textile chemicals specialist Archroma uses the plant-based EarthColors by Archroma, which are derived from upcycled plant waste that are traceable from earth to product.
The garments feature in a new G-Star collection dubbed ‘Dyed by Nature,’ and include jeans, denim jackets, shirts, T-shirts and sweats for both men and women. The garments are available in three colours: one originating from upcycled beetroot food waste and two originating from saw palmetto leaf leftovers from the herbal industry.
Since 2006 G-Star has been investing in sustainable denim innovations, aiming for a circular approach to how denim is made-and-used. Among its milestones have been a sustainable jean made from the first ever Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Gold level certified denim.
