Brand management company Iconix Brand Group has named former Cherokee chairman Robert Galvin as CEO and president.

Galvin, who joined the company earlier this week, has also served as chief operating officer and European president of Sports Brands International Ltd, CEO of Elie Tahari, and president of Camuto Group.

He has also served as an executive vice president and chief financial officer of Nine West Group Inc, has been an independent director of Bebe Stores and is currently an independent director of Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp and Trans World Entertainment. He also currently serves as an independent director of Lands’ End, which he joined in 2014.

Peter Cuneo, who was appointed as interim CEO of Iconix earlier this year, says the board is “extremely pleased” with Galvin’s appointment and believes his past leadership experiences bode well for the company.

“Bob has also been very successful when faced with particularly fluid situations. His unique skills in this regard make him a good match to the current challenges facing Iconix,” he added.

With Galvin’s appointment, Cuneo will now transition to the role of executive chairman.
