- A pilot labour inspection campaign in Vietnam's apparel industry uncovered 1,786 violations at 152 businesses in 12 cities and provinces across the country, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA). The most common violation was overtime hours exceeding the stipulated excess time. VIETNAM NET
- Some 17,000 workers at Egypt’s largest public sector textile company went on strike this month as they did not receive a 10% social bonus promised to them. It started with 3,000 employees at Misr Spinning and Weaving Company, but escalated to the rest of the factory within days. ALBAWABA NEWS
- Pakistan has imposed a 10% regulatory duty on the import of cotton yarn, and grey and processed fabric from India from 1 November. Additionally, the Export Re-Finance Facility (ERF) rate would be reduced by 1%, whereas the ginning and spinning sectors would qualify for Long Term Finance Facility (LTFF). PAKISTAN TODAY
- More than 1,000 workers at Hong Fu Footwear Co in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, went on strike earlier this month over alleged regulations over toilet breaks and language and behaviour by a female manager. Those violating the one five-minute break are ordered to pay a fine, and if they incur three warnings in a year, they lose their bonuses, the employees claim. DTI NEWS
- The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh has added more than 100 factories to its inspection list, bringing the total number of factories to more than 1,650. Safety assessments in the factories are expected to be completed by 15 December this year. NEW AGE
