  • Egypt signed a deal with US-based management consultancy firm Werner International to restructure 25 state-owned textile companies in a bid to strengthen the country’s once thriving manufacturing industry.   • The chairman of the Russian Textile Association is undertaking an initiative to eliminate the country’s dependence on Turkish textiles and clothing.   • Uzbekistan has signed a number of agreements for the export of fruit, vegetables and textile products worth more than US$91.2m to Europe as part of a ‘Green Week 2016’ agricultural fair in Berlin.   • Trade within East Africa Trade is to receive a boost this year with the implementation of a cargo pre-clearance system at the port of Mombasa by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
