Tesco explains Klamkin will be taking over from Jan Marchant who is retiring from her Managing Director Home & Clothing position after enjoying a career of over two decades at the supermarket.

Tesco’s chief commercial officer Ashwin Prasad told Tesco colleagues in an internal memo that Marchant has made an “incredible contribution to the business”.

He says: “She led the Home & Clothing team with product expertise and passion to offer Tesco customers the latest trends and styles that are stylish, affordable, accessible and wearable for everyday life.

“This is most notably seen in the design and launch of our exciting F&F Home range; our partnership with The Entertainer; and the purchase of the Paperchase brand.”

Klamkin is expected to assume her role as Group Managing Director for Home & Clothing in the coming months and is joining Tesco from the H&M Group.

Klamkin is described as having a strong all-round commercial and retail leadership profile across numerous leadership roles, disciplines and geographical locations within H&M Group.

Ashwin adds: “She brings with her a real wealth of experience and deep expertise across both Home & Clothing.”

In August last year, Tesco took part in a pilot project with global technology provider Fabacus to introduce digital product passports to its F&F clothing range ahead of upcoming EU sustainability regulations.

Fabacus founder and CEO Andrew Xeni said at the time: “This offers a massive opportunity for businesses to showcase their commitment to sustainability, building brand reputation and consumer trust, leading to increased loyalty and market share.”

In June, Tesco reported strong growth in clothing during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024/2025, which led to a 0.7% increase in non-food sales for the period. Melissa Minkow, director of retail strategy at CI&T said at the time: “With retail sales growing by 3.4%, Tesco’s success is speaking to the unique consumer mindset at this current time in the category and the grocer’s ability to compete across the industry.”
