Türkiye-based knit fabric producer and textile exporter Ekoten Tekstil is using artificial intelligence (AI) for defect detection to enhance fabric quality and sustainability while transforming manufacturing processes.
The company, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil, has implemented an AI-based system that monitors production in real-time, increasing accuracy, reducing waste, and lessening the environmental footprint of textile creation.
Ekoten Tekstil says that through ongoing investments in AI, sustainability, and workplace inclusivity, it is driving more efficient and responsible production practices.
Highlighting the need for AI advancements in enhancing water efficiency in textile manufacturing processes, the company stated that the textile industry is a major consumer of water, with dyeing and finishing processes contributing to almost 20% of industrial water pollution globally.
It also said that as droughts become more frequent and severe, affecting both communities and industries, the need for water conservation is increasing.
Ekoten Tekstil said its AI technology detects defects earlier in the production process, minimising the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, which helps reduce water usage during critical stages of textile production.
