American & Efird’s (A&E) expansion is intended to address the escalating demand for thread solutions within Bangladesh and throughout South Asia.

Situated in proximity to the seaport and financial hub of Southern Bangladesh, this new manufacturing hub is set to enhance A&E’s existing Gazipur operations.

The expansion is strategically positioned to amplify production capabilities, elevate service standards and compress delivery timelines.

This will ensure the supply of its thread products to a global clientele with increased efficiency, added the company.

American & Efird opened the facility in the presence of industry stakeholders, clients, suppliers, partners, and government dignitaries.

Attendees were given an exclusive glimpse into the facility’s technologies and were briefed on its potential to revolutionise production capabilities.

A&E’s parent company Elevate Textiles chief executive officer and member of board of directors Jeffrey P. Pritchett said: “We are excited to open this new manufacturing facility, which enhances our ability to support customers globally while maintaining A&E’s high standards of excellence. This expansion reflects our long-term vision for growth and our commitment to providing innovative thread solutions.”

The Chattogram plant features contemporary manufacturing technology and adaptable processes tailored for evolving market demands.

The new facility’s key features

  • Advanced production lines for both spun and filament threads
  • ·Specialised research and development resources aimed at fostering innovation and customer-centric solutions
  • Environmentally conscious operations featuring green technologies to minimise ecological footprints
  • The creation of over 350 local jobs that will contribute significantly to the area’s economic prosperity.

A&E president Chris Alt said: “Investing in this facility is a crucial step in strengthening our manufacturing base, enhancing product availability, and improving service to the Chattogram market. As demand for our thread and specialty yarn products continue to grow, this facility will play a pivotal role in meeting customer needs faster, more efficiently, and with greater precision.”

A&E will use the facility to further refine their advanced thread solutions, perfect production methodologies, and advance sustainability measures.

A&E South Asia managing director Angelo Leanage said: “Our mission has always been to deliver high-quality products and services that meet the evolving needs of our customers. With this new facility, we are not only expanding our footprint and capabilities to continue doing so but also bringing jobs, economic growth, and social development to the region.”

In November last year, A&E opened A&E / Gütermann India’s new technical sewing centre in Bawal in the state of Haryana.

The centre features a traditional training centre setup and a range of sewing machines.
