The number of big data apparel industry roles in Asia-Pacific made up 18 per cent of total big data jobs – up from 4.9 per cent in the same quarter last year.

That was followed by Europe, which saw a -3.8 year-on-year percentage point change in big data roles.

The figures are compiled by GlobalData, who track the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

Which countries are seeing the most growth for big data roles in the apparel industry?

The fastest growing country was China, which saw 3.2 per cent of all big data job adverts in the three months ending June last year, increasing to 10.3 per cent in the three months ending September this year.

That was followed by Malaysia (up 6.4 percentage points), Switzerland (up 2.1), and Italy (up 0.0999999999999996).

The top country for big data roles in the apparel industry is the United States which saw 49.6 per cent of all roles in the three months ending September.

Which cities are the biggest hubs for big data workers?

Some 9.7 per cent of all apparel industry big data roles were advertised in Shanghai (China) in the three months ending September - more than any other city.

That was followed by San Francisco (United States) with 9.7 per cent, Portland (United States) with 6.8 per cent, and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) with 6.4 per cent.
