Sales and Related Occupations drive cybersecurity-related hiring activity
Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 20%, emerged as the top cybersecurity-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 25% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 16% in Q2 2023, with new job postings rising by 9% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent cybersecurity roles include Management Occupations with a 12% share in Q2 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 79% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Ascena Retail Group, Amazon, Walmart, Inter IKEA, and J Sainsbury. Together they accounted for a combined share of 79% of all cybersecurity-related new jobs in the apparel industry.
Ascena Retail Group posted 1,502 cybersecurity-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Amazon 1,268 jobs, Walmart 677 jobs, Inter IKEA 117 jobs, and J Sainsbury 108 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 79.56% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023
The largest share of cybersecurity-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 79.56% followed by the UK (7.10%) and India (2.20%). The share represented by the US was 40 percentage points higher than the 39.57% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
