COMMENT: Management needs change in labour perspective

Recent strikes at garment factories in China, Cambodia and Bangladesh have shown that the era of independent industrial unions has finally arrived. But the problem is that existing factory management remains stuck in a rut. Unless the apparel industry can build a rational relationship between organised labour and management, customers will take their business elsewhere, believes David Birnbaum.
