The Ugg footwear brand has collaborated with Austrian cellulosic fibre producer Lenzing to develop a new vegan capsule collection made with carbon-neutral, plant-based materials.
Through Plant Power, Ugg has reimagined three of its iconic footwear styles with carbon-neutral materials including renewable sugarcane, Hevea rubber, natural hemp, and Tencel lyocell from responsibly harvested trees.
The Fluff Sugar Platform and Fluff Sugar Sandal feature a new SugarSole outsole made using renewable sugarcane, and the fluff is made with lyocell fibres from wood pulp converted into regenerated cellulosic fibres. The Neumel Natural, meanwhile, features small-batch soles made of Lactae Hevea latex harvested from the Hevea rubber tree, and an upper woven from an environmentally-preferred blend of 55% cotton and 45% hemp.
Alongside the environmentally-focused initiatives, all of the products in the Plant Power Collection were made in a factory that supports HERproject, Uggs says in a post on its new Feel Good sustainability platform announcing the launch. Since 2016, Ugg has been working with HERproject to educate and empower women in its supply chain. The collaborative initiative works to unlock the full potential of women through workplace-based interventions on health, financial inclusion, and gender equality. Through this project, Ugg has trained over 33,000 women with the goal of 100,000 by 2027.
With our new sustainability initiative, #FEELGOOD, we are on a journey to understand and minimize the environmental impact of our brand – starting with carbon emissions.

Ugg says it is working toward a target to increase its use of recycled, repurposed, regenerated (plant-based), renewable (bio-based), and certified fibres by 35% by 2027.
The company, a unit of Deckers Brands, unveiled its Feel Good platform in October to give context to its long-term sustainability goals and help consumers hold the company to account.
