Spanish firm Jeanologia has launched a new concept aimed at promoting the use of technological innovation in the sustainable finishing of garments.
The company, which specialises in sustainable garment finishing technologies that help reduce chemicals, water and energy use, says its technological innovations promote a more reasonable use of natural and human resources in the garment finishing processes.
In its intent to make these processes sustainable, the Spanish company offers technological solutions towards a full “sustainable-ization” of the industry, maintaining quality, product look and the rationalisation of production methods.
Jeanologia says it works with the objective of promoting the advancement of the textile industry on its way to sustainability.
“Our aim is to set 5.Zero finishes (zero discharge, zero manual scrapping, zero potassium permanganate spray, zero stone washing and zero bleach) as the standard in the denim industry, improving appearance and product quality with a neutral cost,” says Carme Santacruz, creative designer at Jeanologia.
“In this context, with the combined use of our technologies: laser, ozone and e-Flow; along with the right fabric selection, properly tested with our Light Sensitive Fabric tool, it is possible to achieve this.”

By GlobalDataThe environmental footprint of all developments made at Jeanologia is analyzed using the EIM (Environmental Impact Measurement) software. Developed by the company, it measures water, energy and chemical consumption. By doing so, it can be proved that all garments have a low environmental impact, contributing to minimize their environmental footprint and adding to the ‘sustainable-ization’ of all finishes, Santacruz says.
The concept was launched at this week’s BlueZone Munich Fabric show through two collections – 5.Zero: Indigo & Vintage, and All blacks edition.
The collection 5.Zero Indigo & Vintage was created with the use of Jeanologia’s laser to show it is possible to create wear and other effects saving water and considerably reducing the use of chemicals and energy.
The collection 5.Zero All Blacks shows the benefits of eco-technology for developing finishes on black denim. It combines the use of laser and G2 ozone technology, avoiding the use of potassium permanganate spray or chemicals that could be harmful to the environment and workers.
