The two partners are China Textile Academy (CTA) and ANTA Sports Products Group Co (ANTA), HKRITA announced.
These alliances aim to merge the expertise and capabilities of both Hong Kong and mainland professionals, fostering innovative breakthroughs and strategic advantages in the sector.
The CTA, recognised as a multifaceted research entity and advanced technological hub within China’s textile industry, plans to collaborate with HKRITA to enhance the process of transforming lab-based technologies into scalable pilot projects and intermediate testing phases.
China Textile Academy general manager Ma Yongmei said: “CTA has established a comprehensive innovation chain that spans from materials and fibre preparation to core equipment, fibre application research, and standards testing and measurement certification.
“The collaboration between CTA and HKRITA will not only bring fresh impetus to technological innovation but also further promote technology transfer, fostering the integration of R&D and industrialisation.”
Meanwhile, ANTA, a prominent sports brand within China’s market, prioritises innovation as a core aspect of its business model. The initiatives under this MOU are expected to be customised to meet the demands of athletes, thereby sharpening ANTA’s position in the sportswear segment and supporting its ongoing commitment to sustainable practices.

These cooperative ventures between HKRITA, ANTA and CTA, will concentrate on pivotal areas including the development of novel fibre materials, creation of advanced functional products, integration of intelligent manufacturing processes, devices, and promotion of eco-friendly regenerated textile materials.
Such collaborative endeavours are set to propel advancements in high-performance textiles while expediting the transition from concept to commercial application.
Jake Koh, chief executive officer of HKRITA, said: “R&D requires a multitude of brilliant ideas to succeed. These two memoranda engage a large pool of innovative exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland to develop solutions that improve our industry and society. Our concerted efforts can quickly address current needs and challenges of the industry, staying ahead of the competition.”
In September last year, HKRITA and the H&M Foundation officially launched the Open Lab, a new initiative aimed at advancing sustainable practices within the textile and fashion industries.
