Cascale says the objectives of BBI to enhance procurement processes are in harmony with its dedication to promoting respectable work, ethical corporate conduct, and advancements across the sector.
The acquisition will see the Better Buying Purchasing Practices Index (BBPPI) and the Better Buying Partnership Index (BBPI) assets and approaches being incorporated into Cascale’s ecosystem.
This integration is anticipated to amplify their impact, encouraging concerted efforts and fundamental industry transformation.
The acquisition is also expected to help Cascale strengthen its commitment to fair supply chains and tackling unfair practices like abrupt alterations to orders, payment postponements, and pricing that does not cover production costs — issues that negatively affect manufacturers and workers and contribute to instability in supply chains.
Cascale also believes the move to employ BBI’s instruments and onboard its personnel will enable factories to plan more efficiently, improve working conditions, and guarantee just remuneration. Such measures are in direct correlation with Cascale’s strategic pillar of supporting decent work for all, which aims to address entrenched labour issues and advocate for secure, equitable, and honourable work environments throughout international supply chains.
Cascale CEO Colin Browne said: “Incorporating Better Buying’s tools into Cascale is a pivotal step in transforming supply chain relationships. These proven methodologies will enable us to tackle systemic challenges such as unfair purchasing practices, amplify supplier voices, and advance meaningful industry-wide change.

BBI, led by Dr Marsha Dickson as president and co-founder, has contributed significantly to establishing responsible purchasing practices on the global stage.
Following the acquisition, Dickson will serve as a consultant to Cascale, assisting with the integration process during the transition.
Dickson said: “Better Buying Institute’s decision to align with Cascale is a strategic choice to ensure our mission — to improve purchasing practices — can achieve greater scale and impact. By integrating our tools and methodologies into Cascale, we can continue driving positive change while benefiting from Cascale’s extensive networks and strategic resources to maximise industry transformation. Cascale and BBI already share significant alignment on mission and goals, as well as many members and subscribers, and the acquisition of these valuable assets by Cascale is perhaps the most logical solution for them.”
Cascale assures stakeholders that data protection and trust will remain paramount during this transition. Suppliers will continue to submit their data anonymously with existing safeguards in place.
The company also promises a smooth continuation of services without immediate alterations to pricing or access for current subscribers of BBI tools or Cascale members.
Cascale board director and Marks and Spencer responsible sourcing global head Fiona Sadler said: “Cascale’s global reach and resources provide a powerful platform to scale the impact of Better Buying tools, ensuring their reach extends further than before.
“By integrating these proven methodologies in Cascale, we can empower companies to strengthen supplier relationships, improve purchasing practices, and drive measurable progress in labour conditions and environmental performance. This transformative step paves the way for a future where buyers and suppliers collaborate more effectively to address shared challenges, from workers’ rights to sustainability, creating lasting systemic change.”
In December, Cascale unveiled its US Policy Member Expert Team (MET), a new advisory group, which seeks to articulate the organisation’s policy objectives in the US and steer its advocacy efforts within the region.
