IT jobs accounted for a 7.8% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.91% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 67.57% in May 2022, a 71.26% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.62% in May 2022, marking a 166.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.81% in May 2022, a 60% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average flat growth in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s apparel industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 31 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 66.67% over the previous month, followed by Carrefour with 3 jobs and a 200% growth. adidas with 3 IT jobs and with jobs, recorded a 40% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while recorded a flat growth with job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s apparel industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 54.05% share in May 2022, a 73.68% decrease over April 2022. Colombia featured next with a 21.62% share, up 14.29% over the previous month. Haiti recorded an 8.11% share, a growth of 200% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.05%, down by 76.47% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 32.43% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
