Pantee claims to be the world’s first underwear brand made from deadstock T-shirts. The start-up, which launched in November 2020 via Kickstarter, says it is on a mission to tackle fashion waste and create a sustainable alternative without any compromise on comfort or style.
It plans to use the GBP190,000 to expand brand awareness, grow its impact, and further disrupt the fashion industry.
“After a successful year, we’re excited to be starting 2022 with the support of investors that share our vision for the future of Pantee,” says co-founder Amanda McCourt. “We are proud to have created a brand that is pushing boundaries, both in the way we create our products and empower our community, but this is really just the beginning.”
Co-founder Katie McCourt tells Just Style Pantee opened a SEIS/EIS round in late 2021 to raise the funds required to grow its core team, build brand awareness and further build upon its sustainability credentials.
All Pantee sets are made from either deadstock T-shirts or T-shirt fabric (95% cotton for comfort, 5% elastane for stretch), with manufacturing taking place in Bangladesh and Portgual.
“We produce our underwear sets in a small sampling room in Bangladesh that guarantees safe working conditions, above-average living wages with bi-yearly bonuses,” McCourt says.
